4-Person Team QualifyingOn Friday, April 17, at Woodcreek Golf Club, the hpGA held qualifying for the Associate Club Championship. We had 12 golfers attempt to make the team this year. And it was a lovely day for golf. This year's competition was really close, but there were no ties nor tie-breakers necessary among the top finishers. The best four golfers are on the team! First, a "Steady Eddie" is selected and in first place in this category was Peter Henschel. Peter rejoined hpGA late last year after many years shooting clay thingies and has gotten right back into the swing of all things golf. Next we choose a "Streaky Steve" and Alcinda Wolff won this one. This will be Alcinda's third year in a row on this team. The next "Steady Eddie" slot went to Holden Markle. Holden has been a qualifier before but hasn't been on the 4-person team for a number of years. The next "Streaky Steve" spot went to Sung Oh. Sung was also on the last three years' teams, two of which made it through to Monterey. Randy Wolff is the alternate "Steady Eddie" and the alternate "Streaky Steve." Steve Hopson will replace Randy as alternate "Steady Eddie" if Randy fills in as a "Streaky Steve." Mike Mason will do the same as a "Streaky Steve" if Randy is called upon to be a "Steady Eddie." To recap, our 4-person team consists of Peter Henschel, Alcinda Wolff, Holden Markle and Sung Oh. Alternate is Randy Wolff. Congratulations to all! The next stop for the newly selected team is Local qualifying at Wildhawk GC in Sacramento on June 3. If they can qualify out of this stage they would next play in the Sectional qualifier at Poppy Ridge GC on July 20. If they can make it through they would be off to Spyglass Hill GC and Poppy Hills GC in late August for the 36-hole Championship. Good Luck Team ! Complete results, in order after all tiebreakers:
Local QualifierWe made it through to Poppy Ridge. The team shot 112 which was the low score at all the courses by a lot! Congrats! Do us proud at the next stage!
